Where Am I from?

I usually get into spells of immense thinking. It's like a phase, where  my left brain and right brain have conversations that ultimately give me a backache. Blame it on Acupuncture. (That Pin poking thingy)

It was in one of these sessions that I was absolutely convinced that in a previous birth I must've been a driver of some sorts. Taxi or Auto, but one of the two for sure. That must be the reason why I keep meeting so many drivers with so many interesting stories to tell, which make me go "Ahaaa" to which the driver promptly replies "Kai zala?" in Marathi.

Anyways, the topic of today's brain freeze conversation is "Where am I from?"

There are these standard questions that people ask you and you promptly have an answer pop into your head. Visually at least.

For e.g

Q - Hey Whats up
A - Nothing, you tell.

Q - What's your favorite colour?
A - Blue / I don't know

Q - Who's hotter? Anushka or Deepika?
A - Megan Fox / Angelina Jolie (By God's grace at least now she will retire from those buhledy worlds hottest lists)

Q - I have Scotch and Vodka, what will you have?
A - Do you have beer?

Q - Saw any movies recently?
A - *Image of that movie that friend of your friend gave you on that pen drive that everyone's been sharing* No.

Q - Kya Aapke toothpaste main namak hai?
A - Haan saale, Sambhar powder bhi hai, khayega kya? (Rhetorical, am not offering)

Q - Where are you from?
A - Err. Heard of Shimoga? How about Mangalore? Karnataka? Yes am a Madarasi, Thank you.

Truth be said, I have been around. Spent an equal amount if time in the Gulf, in Udupi/Manipal, at Bangalore and now what looks like its going to be quite some time in Mumbai. While I borrowed a lot from them, none of them has left a mark that's deep enough to be called home.

For example, I loved the places in Manipal that I used to spend so much time at with my friends. In Bangalore it was all about enjoying the lovely weather and the ease of travel (Yes come to Mumbai, it's like going to space in a cycle rickshaw) Bahrain was all about school time memories. And now Mumbai, well we're just getting started.

I don't think I've ever answered the question about "Where are you from?" in one line.

The most recent being my explanation to an Expat that India is divided into "Zones" depending on what people eat. Idlis? - Madrasi. Chaats? Mumbai. Momos? Definitely from East (Don't even have a place) and Tandoori chicken. Delhi. If you eat bullets and bombs, probably way up north in "Paradise on Earth"

Just FYI, I like all the above. Am like the public buffet that everyone eats free off and then cribs - Definitely Indian.

Anyways, Next time someone asks me where am from, I guess I'll just say that. Indian.

Cheers

The Truth behind the SRK Controversy

As you may have heard recently, King Khan has been asked to shift home base to across the border in case he felt unsafe in India. This invitation came from a leader of a organization of "questionable"* repute*

( Repute* refers to "media"/"Don't-kill-me-am-quoting-Wikipedia" lingo for an organization that has been  marked as a terrorist outfit by USA, UK, Russia, Australia, European Union, United Nations and the leader who has a 10 million dollar bounty on his head in one of those US Terrorist Bucket lists.

*Questionable refers to his patrons who STILL say there is no proof against him and that they cannot arrest him. These are the very same patrons who said we are fighting terror and are absolutely sure that Osama was not hiding there, till the US came and shot Osama bin Laden in their own back yard)

Sorry for the detour. Where was I? Ah yes SRK shifting and all.

Honestly if this offer had come after Ra One, I wouldn't of thought twice of packing this fellow off, just for putting us through that scene with Arjun Rampal. Yes, "that" scene. But the songs were Okay, and I had good laughs for a few months, so you are forgiven.

In midst all this controversy, in comes the now famous for his foot-in-mouth comments, the inferior interior minister who says he is concerned about SRK's safety. To put in mildly - Why don't you sniff up who's blowing up people in your own country instead of worrying about our citizens, eh? Are you seriously saying that of all the people who elected you as a politician (God alone knows why) in your country, you are bothered about a celeb in our country? Very Suspicious, wouldn't you say?

Also, the minister says he wants to remind us and I quote, "I would like to request all Indian brothers and sisters and all those who are talking negative way about Shah Rukh, they should know he is a movie star."

Umm...Yes you Idiot, he is a movie star. We've seen from his stuttering days to his current stretch-my-arms-and-romance days. However, may I remind you, he is an Indian first. Also, we are not your brothers and sisters, at least am not. How about you pay a little more attention to all the "negative" shit you guys are doing at the LOC, before you come barging in on Bollywood like you barge in across the border every now and then?

Come to think of it, I would have made a counter offer to some of your people to come here and stay safe, especially those famous leaders who are declared terrorists globally, but of whom you seem to have no proof. They could live in Tihar and have world class Biryani. That Kasab fellow must have written to you guys no? Oh wait, I forgot. You abandoned him to die the moment he left your borders.

Frankly, looking at all the above, I think this is all related to with one thing, and only one thing.

Keep your grubby hands off SRK. He will not dance in any of your weddings.

Cheers
M

PS - Try Saif, after Race 2, he'll probably need it.

Prey 2

(Cont'd from Prey, Recommend you read it)

He was seated comfortably at the recliner, watching her intently. And the show that was unfurling.

"How the hell did this person get in?!" the supervisor yelled at her, pushing an unassuming looking person out of the gate.

She was caught unawares. She suddenly got back into attention, her eyes moving from the kid to her supervisor. Her fingers instinctively played behind her back. Which was more to do with her feminine response than that of a trained CAIF personnel.

"Sir, I was at that end, I didn't see..." she mumbled

"PRECISELY!!! You didn't see. You weren't paying attention and people walk in from the side gates, the ones which you are manning!!!" said the supervisor. His dark Moustache twitching as he stood to his full 6'3 heights, obviously enjoying the spot in which he had caught her napping.

" Sir magar,..." she switched to Hindi, hoping to get to a more emotive level.

" Do your work and stop dancing around!!!" said the supervisor, as he turned around and marched back into the security check area.

She looked down and waited for him to vanish. The only person who had the authority to pull her up for any misdemeanor was her reporting officer. She checked the revolver at her side, which was secured by a clasp that made it secure, no smarty could pull it out without her knowing. Of course, if she let the so said individual come up so close.

He smiled. He had seen one of the top security forces in the country so easily distracted. He thought it was a good moment to utilize.

At that very moment, she noticed him. He sat in the front row. He wore a prayer cap, wore spectacles which were probably a guise, and had a long flowing beard. He was dressed in a flowing white kurta over a dark blue jeans. He was reaching for something in black back pack, and was in the process of standing up. He had a nasty scowl on his face.

She had just been reprimanded on letting in non passengers into the waiting area. Maybe there were others, she had the right to check against a boarding pass.

"SIR!!! Can I see you ticket please", she called out.

No response. The man was still reaching for his Black bag.

"SIR, I need to see your boarding pass or ID, now please" She called out again as she moved towards him.

The man stood up, without looking at her, and his bag was now in front of him, one hand in the bag reaching for something.

"SIR, I NEED TO SEE YOUR PASS NOW" She raised her voice, now hardly 10 feet from him.

He looked up at her. His brow was sweaty, and his face showed panic, as he brought his bag with his  arm inside it to a full stop right in front of him, almost taking aim.

Her instincts took over. In a flash, the clasp was off, the security lock released and the revolver in her hand pointed right at him, shouting out loud, "SIR STOP", The 'SIR' not leaving her manners even at this point.

The man panicked, the bag fell off his arm, exposing the black devise that was gleaming.

She Fired. It hit him right in the chest. The Second shot took hardly a second, and as he reeled back from impact, the bag fell from his arm. Blood spurted from the shot as he collapsed without a gasp.

His camera tumbled on to the floor. His Press ID hanging from the back of the camera, now covered in blood.

The next day, the headlines screamed the violent side of the CAIF, and how an innocent press reporter was shot in the airport for behaving suspiciously and trying to take unauthorized photos

Terrorists have no religion

Before we get into this discussion, I would request all of you to read Please Stop Demonizing Muslims by Swats.

The Base

There has been a lot of Discussion on Terrorists, Pakisan, Hindu Terrorism, Islamic Terrorism, and anyother "religion-based terrorism", if such a thing exists. Especially after Mumbai Terror blasts.

There is a lot of anti-Pakistan sentiments in the country, which is turning into, if I may say so a religion based accusation. Lot of people have the feeling that islam advocates killings, and there are people who counter this saying that Hindu religious fanatics are no better.

The Question is who told Terrorists have a religion? If you read the confessions of the terrorists who was caught, you will realize he never attacked "HINDU", or "CHRISTIANS" or whatever. He was trained to attack Indian citizens. There is a difference.

Terrorists are doing the killing 40%, and we people do the rest by blaming it on religious sentiments. Down with all Religious groups. The terrorists masterminds know that Indian citizens will pile on each other on the religious aspect.

I want to make it clear, People who follow islam, or christanity or any religion are not the perpertrators of terror. I have muslim friends, and we both want to blow the brains out of terrorists.

The doers..

There are unfortunately few people in the world, who proclaim themselves to be devout religious people, who have nothing better to do, and try to uphold their so called esteem, and their lack of confidence, by brainwashing people, in the name of religion. And use these people in these missions of religion saving acts. These people are ever waiting for a chance to showcase their existence in the world.

A normal hug, becomes a push. A look at a religious sanctuary becomes a stare. And of course there are their brainwashed monkeys to follow their commands.

The Sufferer

Normal, innocent people.

About Pakistan

When you hear someone say "I hate Pakistan " It isnt against the people of the country or the belief of that country. I do not advocate that pakistanis are villains. However I do say that there are a few corrupt officials, who bow down to the pressure from religious fundamentalists.

Pakistan Sponsored Terrorism isnt the same as saying that citizens of pakistan would want usto be  dead. It is more to say that there are people in the places of power who want to deflate the peace process, and create more tension, that would help terrorists. I do not see why a sensible person, if elected to the proper position would want to do this.

I would conclude to say that yes, I do believe there are elements in Pakistan who support terrorism. But since Pakistan follows Islam it doesnt mean Islam follows terrorism. If Pakistan had any other religion, would we say the same? I dont think so.

I have lived in Arab countries, and I have never felt anything different. I beleive I would be equally confortable in Pakistan or any where for that matter. A small system of corrupt psycho pathic religion based fundamentalists cannot run a nation, and shouldnt be allowed to either.

At this moment, we should remember Indian and Pakistani citizens bear the brunt of terrorism. Not the governments and Terrorists.

Hitting POK's terrorist camps shouldnt be a option for India, it should be the next step foward for the host Government.

I pray and wish that people understand that no religion is bad. And terrorists have no religion.

Mumbai Terror-Update

Have got the following updates

Update 1

1. Pak Def ministers says Pak has played no role in Mumbai Terror Strikes and should avoid Knee Jerk Reactions

2. Fire flares up bigger on Taj Hotel at COlaba

3. Terrorists have done a reconnaissance mission  in Mumbai before attacking, and apparently had control rooms in Taj and Trident

4. Captured terrorists claims that they are here to create panic and havoc.

Mumbai Terror- Why India?

Another attack. Another city. Another date. Another group of people.

The same leaders. The same methods. The same results.

November 26th 2008 has witnessed the most well orchestrated terror attack in India so far. The country has been taken by surprise, through the terrorists serial attacks on ten areas in South Mumbai. This too in a very aggressive, open handed manner.

Currently, while I watch three channels simultaneously, keeping a tab on whats happening, I am filled with a rage. A rage to hold someone responsible. A rage to catch hold of the politicans whom we(I) have voted to power. A rage to understand why in the past few years we as a country have been treated like a rag doll to hit and destroy tactics of Terrorists.

Things to ponder as all the ideas and things

1. The Govt is not at all aware of the next step

2. After numerous attacks on the country we still dont have crisis management

3. We treat our armed forces (Army,Police,NSG..etc) treated so poorly, having equipment so light as compared to the terrorists

4. Why is Pakistan's role and status not clear yet?

5. Top hotels and areas, where is the security when Mahrashtra is on perpetual alert?

6. IS there anything called Hindu Terror?Muslim Terror?

7. Does a person killing anyone have a religion?

8. Because the seige is high profile locations, is the media sitting up?

9. Three top officials shot down. Is that how our top officials are given resources

10. The terrorists are highly trained and using the best of equipment.

11. A camera takes photos of the terrorists, why cant a bullet find him too..

12. Mumbai spirit is great, but politicans are hell bent on dividing the city.

13. Apparently the terrorists came by sea, two ships MV alpha and Al kabir have been detained while on track to Pakistan

14. 126 dead, 300+ injured (10pm, 27th Nov)

15. Hemant Karkare, Mahrashtra ATS chief succumbs to bullet wounds. Was accused of being anti hindu and on a witch hunt against Hindu religious figures, during his probe of Malegaon Blasts; which took a  political turn when the probe began finding Hindu activists involved. Prime parties to take up cudgels agains Karkere seemed to be the BJP and the Shiv Shena.

16.  MAjor locations- Taj, Oberoi trident, Nariman House, CST

17. 1 terrorist caught alive

18. IPS officer Ashok Kamteen and Encounter Specialist Vijay Salaskar Loose their lives in the cross fire with terrorists. 11 other policemen loose their lives.

19. Deccan Mujaihdeen claims responsibilty for terror attacks. The terrorists are young, sharp and very focused on their plan.

20. All terrorists in TAJ are dead (10.10 pm)

21. Lots of links to Pakistan, is something brewing on the other side?

22. Why cant we hit terrorist camps when we know they exsist?

23. Are we going to forget this too?

24 After 9/11 there wasnt a single terror attack on USA. Why cant we do that?

The things have gone too far. Its not the terrorists who have taken a toll, ITS THE POLITCIANS WHO HAVE KILLED SO MANY PEOPLE.

1 billion people. 100 odd idiots running the country.

Am sad and depressed that I(and all of us) have knowingly or unkowingly, in some way contributed to this mess.

I pray for all the people who have lost their lifes, and all those who have lost their loved and dear ones. May their souls rest in Peace and give their families the strength to face the situation.

God Bless India

Politics of Terror

You tell us that we should vote for you,
That you are the right choice

You tell us that the other is wrong
That you can put an end to them

You tell us that our children will have a future
That you support education and learning

You tell us that things will be right
That you will make sure they are

And when we do choose you,
You are not around

When you make "others" wrong
You are not around

When we are insecure and attacked
You are not around

When democracy is threatened
You are not around

When children are raped and murdered
You are not around

When the country is held to Ransom
You are not around

You claim that religion is the cause
Then what is the meaning of "Indian"?

You claim we are safe
How do we loose thousands everyday?

Why aren't our armed forces supported and encouraged
Where is respect for courage and valor

But of course you are safe
But of course you are protected
But of course you have three meals a day
But of course your "people" are always happy
But of course you earn more that half your constituency does

Why

You are the problem
You are the issue
You are the religion
You are the enemy
You You You

Its time for WE
Its time for US
My religion is Indian
My God is India
My family are the citizens of India.

NOT YOU
And I will not let you do this to us.

Fight against Terror

Hi Past few months we have been seeing so many terror attacks, not only in India but also across the globe. We have had blasts in many countries, but one stark contrast is that majority of these blasts have happened in countries where

1. Have adopted the policy "An eye for an eye, makes the whole world blind" so lets talk it out

2. Have adopted the policy "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" so lets give these guys a taste of their own medicine.

Were countries have aadopted policy 1 there has been  comparitively lower powered serial blasts every now and then. Countries adopting policy two have faced superpowerful blasts( like 9/11)

Terror networks arise from weakness and insecure people. They arise because of Some overtly psycopathical religious fundamentalists.

Whenever one individual gets these  S.O.P.R.F (Some overtly psycopathical religious fundamentalists) feelings he picks out his weakest targets. There he drills till he has enough money support to recuit another SOPRF. And so on he has an army of weaklings and insecure people.

Terrorists claim to be strong and brave...bullshit.(willing to kill innocent people by blowing urself is not Bravado) They are weak minded people who dont have the guts to come out and fight in the open against the armed forces. They think and hit and run is brave. Its like mice scurring around.

To a large extent we have created these terrorist armies. How you ask? Well for one majority of these people were from poor backgrounds and with lot of dreams, But we intend to keep these people there and crush their dreams by not opening up to them. They are then motivated and turned anti social, half because of our attitude towrds them and half because of those SOPRF's

Remember every stomach gone hungry, every tear fall, is a cry for help. Its up to us to either help or let SOPRF's help them and brain wash them. And use them against society.

Friends, open your hearts and minds...recognize what you can do to nip these terror network in the bud. Dont wait to be a hero by spotting someone placing a bomb somewhere. Be a hero by doing what it takes to fight terror everyday..

To a safer society..to a safer life..to a happier day in the life if every human..

Cheers!!!
