Man who hates steel - Movie review
Fan boys of Nolan can stop reading now. I know how you are going to feel, because as an Apple Fan Boy I know how it feels when people make these critical remarks on Apple. Of course I just laugh it off and come home and stick needles in my voodoo dolls (I have quite a collection). But then that's me.
And to make things clear, I like Nolan movies.
So ready or not here it comes. (SPOILERS AHEAD)
I rated the movie 5 star out of 10 on IMDB. Basically because it doesn't give me an option to have negative ratings, and I haven't rated movie lower than 6 yet. Also before I explain my views, let me give you an idea of how I watch movies.
Hollywood Action - Popcorn and Coke
Hollywood Comedy - No Popcorn and Coke, owing to expected laughter and hence spillage
Hollywood Romance - Expect Skin Show
Bollywood Action - Expect Cars blowing up
Bollywood Romance - Hope no one shows skin
Bollywood Comedy - Leave brains at home
Jackie Bhagnani Movie - Stay at home
Man of Steel for the first 25 minutes is interesting. It's a nice plot and intriguing. Then it goes all haywire to some damned planet trying to save itself, and Star Trek like stuff and then there's an evil villain who looks like a square Stone Cold Steven Austin, swearing revenge like some South Indian villain. At this point, I am still interested.
Cut to super hero child hood, miracle miracle, self doubt and life and blah blah. The problem with this part, and I'd expect it to be the most strongest character part is that its in too little bits and pieces and is just irritating. Lame dialogues add to the misery. At this point am looking for food.

| I am Man of Steel. I thrash Buildings. |
Lois Lane plays a nice cameo as a Tough-Smart-Ass-Media-Bitch-Sunny Leone type thing before turning into a good girl with a hint of warm Apple pie. Melts at the mere mention of Superman's sad confused life story. Stupid. At this point am checking out the crowd.
Add a generous helping of flying objects, 70% of crashing buildings and more buildings falling, burning buildings, buildings making out with other buildings etc. In this chaos, villains henchmen (in G I Joe costume, no less) fight Superman in the streets of the city. All the while, yes you guessed it, more thrashing buildings, cars, shops, trucks etc with no concern or thought to people IN THOSE BUILDINGS. We know they are sets, but at least act like they're not. I think it should have been named "Man who hates Steel Buildings". At this point am suicidal.
The only difference is that the Army, FBI, CIA, IA, Special Ops, Navy Seals, Marines, SWAT, etc are NOT shown as the only answer to world problems. In fact, they are almost friendly and defer to Superman. (WHAT THE FUCK is wrong with these people?!!!)
Enter villain. And Giant Flying object with pathetic name. Add more crashing buildings, yada yada yada, fight fight, superman does some self belief course, beats the bad machine, and finally a long one on one with the villain, who he kills by twisting the neck in the last minutes. (Note: Superman almost destroyed the city fighting villain henchmen by bashing them with other stuff)
Finally, Superman gets a job at the media agency that Lois Lane works in. Clark Kent. Tadaaaah!!!
Phew.
But its a great movie if you are in the architecture business or like watching buildings blowing up and all that. Also, the Sunny Leone comment above was a joke. Don't go to watch the movie expecting that. Ain't happening.
There's this hilarious part of Superman's Costume as well, but whatever.
Of course Henry Cavill makes a better superman. But that's about it. Give me Wolverine and Dark Knight any day.
Please go watch the movie. Am sure some part of you will still want to watch it. Let me know how it went in the comments below.
Cheers

Quantum of Solace-Review
I don't think its right time for a review of QOS, being already quite some time as it has been released. However most of the reviews I read dint give me the right picture of the movie. What I had expected was completely different from what I watched today.
While watching the movie you need to remember two things. This bond is NOT The suave and smooth gadget savvy Pierce Brosnan Bond. This Daniel Craig Bond is an intense, I don't give a damn Bond. The second important point is that this is the beginning of James Bond, And is more of how the Elegant Bond came into picture.
As we already know this movie is about a hurt, revengeful James out to kick ass anyone that's not helping him on his way to get the Bad guys. The movie has brilliant Action. By Action I don't mean Scud missiles flying out from Cars or Radar deflecting semi aircraft parachute holding rockets. Here its hardcore Bond beating up the bad guys, more realistic fights. Real Car chases and practically possible stunts.
Craig has actually done most of the stunts Himself. The movie shows a human 007 who can get hit and beaten up, and there's a lot more story and drama. If you are going to the cinema hall to watch high flying gadgetry and bond Sleeping with all his female accomplices than your going to be disappointed. To have watched Casino Royale would also be a big plus in understanding the movie.
The best part of the movie is in not knowing what will happen next, and how bond is going to react.
The movie continues from the last movie. Bond is basically after two people. One is man who betrayed Vesper Lynd, the woman he loved; and Dominic Greene (bullfrog-eyed Mathieu Amalric), a big player in the sinister organization that blackmailed her, now striking a shady deal in some Bolivian desert.
The whole movie revolves around Bond trying to get hold of Dominic Greene. At the same time Olga Kurylenko (Camille), plays a good part and has her eyes set on the Bolivian General who is planning a coup. And helping the Bolivian General is Dominic Greene. Apparently Olga is out to take revenge against The general who ruined her family and that's how Bond and Olga meet.
The movie has lots of twists and turns but could have done with better dialogue and narrative. Its not as entertaining as Casino Royales narrative build and story. But you have to keep your eyes open or you might miss a vital link. The locales for the movie are brilliant.
Olga however has played a character that stands on her own and doesnt need a bond .Very independent and very different from all he previous bond girls. Being arguably 007's hottest accomplices, There isnt a single bedroom scene with Bond. Which again brings out the ruthless and single minded objective of revenge in both Bond and Olga.
Overall I would rate it a 3.5 on 5 as a movie. Worth watching and enjoyable if you are up to some great practical movie action and A fantastic Bond. To be true it actually gives strength to the fact that Daniel Craig fits the bill as a 21st century Bond and a strong characterization .Hard core Pierce Brosnan style fans might find it a bit hard to swallow. No wonder the drab reviews!!!
Happy Movie watching!!!

Fashion-Movie Review
After Page 3, traffic signal and Corporate Madhur Bhandarkar has hit the nail on the head with "Fashion". For those who are out to watch Madhur for the first time, the movie will take you through the Fashion industry in a span of three hours, with a different style of frankness and spunk. The movie also has taken a lot from real life incedents with the "wadrobe malfunction" too.
However for those who have seen the previous movies of Madhur, this movie would tend to be a bit boring at first. There is a predictable story line with the struggle-top-fall-climb up againg kinda story. But its gots a nice punch to it. The movie might not do much for Priyanka Chopra (Meghna Mathur) as there isnt anything that brings out her talent as a n actress. Shes done well, but nothing stands out.For me the surprise were the other two actors, being Kangana (Shonali-such a cute name) and Mugdha (Janet). Kangana was especially fantastic in the little time she was on screen. Her fashion photos were absolutely mind blowing. Arjan Bajwa was also looking good on screen.
Its a movie you would want to watch a couple of times, at least for the great ramp shots :)
The music isnt great but theres a particlular background score which is really catchy. Will try to get that soon.
There were some brands which were quite visible in the movie. Some being Cafe Coffee Day, Canon, Loreal (my company!!!) and some others...Any way catch the movie in a theatre near you!!!
Happy cine watching!,
MAddy!!!
