Why do I blog?

Over the past three days, I have got back to my blogging habits. Basically because my blog is the only place that doesnt remind me of my job. Courtesy to blogger for giving us the opportunity to block or accept ads.

Every channel has an ad of one or the other of my companies brands. Every other store in Bangalore has a hoarding or a poster of one of my companies brands. And every other guy I meet asks me how's work.

So there. Apart from working 36 hours a day, I am constantly reminded that there is some media spend going on, and I'd better make sure that the brand is available in the place where people would like to buy it.

Anyway, so why do I blog....hmmm. I believe so for the following reasons:

1. Steven Speilberg rejected my story. So now I am reduced to blogging

2. My social life is reduced to getting lipsticks and skin creams for my friends, so I hope they read this and get the idea....(PAY ME!!!)

3. Knowing my friends here it is again PAY ME!!!

4. My fingers need excercise, since I have completed playing FIFA09 and punching all those sales figures

5. Blogging is a more evolved form of expression that leads to the release of creative intent that enables me to right rubbish like this and empowers me to talk gibberish to my boss!!!

6. I have become an insomniac. My nightmares begin and end with women who stop using nail paint and mascara.(PS : I work in a cosmetic company)

7.  I blog so as to remember all the other words that I can think of  apart from the one word I hear all day (TARGET)

8. I dread the day that keeping your hair uncloured and grey becomes a fashion

9. I need to keep reminding myself that I can write and talk crap instantaneously and constantly, thereby enabling me to one day write award winning copy for a popular ad

10. I have been approached by the bloggers federation to keep up my bad work, so that others can look good. (Its a talent I have developed over the years...call me)

11. And Finally, someones gotta to know that I have lost all sense and logic, ever since recession hit.

So that's why I blog. If you feel that you can contribute to my blog do the following

For cheques/demand drafts send me a mail
For cash give me a call
For anything else hit the power off button on your computer.

Have a fun tuesday!!!

Cheers :)

Blah!!! what a day!

I dont believe in calling a day bad or good. Instead I clasify it as a "sales man day" or a "management day"

Management day

Get up. Give your team a call and motivate them by 7am. Call again in half an hour to ensure they need any help. Call the client to ensure he knows of our new offerings. Check if your team has got the deal done. Meet team in office. Hold an "open meeting" and point out hurdles and ways to step over them. Get some tea to pep up the team. Guide them to try gain. Follow up in the evening to check if they need help. Give them a big opportunity to success. Repeat step one.

Sales day

Get up in the morning to your boss's call. Stare at the watch. 10 am. First thoughts "Run. Run.Run"Then get ready in 5 min. Run. Bike doesnt start. Kick the bike. You hurt your toe. Bike starts. Ride half way. Forgot your bag. Go back. Climb stairs. Open door. Get the damn bag. Lock the door. Double check. Come down 3 flights of stairs. Forgot the helmet inside. Go back up. Repeat everything. Answer phone call from boss. TEll him your in traffic. Then reach venue. To realize your late by an hour. Talk to client.Tell him your boss called a meeting early in the morning. Boss calls client. Your thoughts"Damn." Client tells you to get lost. You come out. Boss calls. He tells you to get back in. You get back in. Client is pissed. You use your secret weapon. Beg. plead. Point your helplessness. Paint your organisation as a sadistic torture camp. Get the deal done.Answer call. Come out. Reach office. Tell your boss of the deal. Boss tells you to get double the amount. makes sure to use his Amitabh Bacchan voice in full view of the office and the chai wala to riddicule you. Throws your ass back to the client. Client tells you to sod off. Answer phone call. You use your ultimate weapon 2. BEG. PLEAD. Repeat. Doesnt work. Go home. Boss calls. Says youve put your best efforts. And hands you a 4 hour presentation to work on to seal a deal the next day.Sleep at 3 am. Repeat from first line.

Now...which day did you have?!!!

Cheers :)

FEb 24 to March 31

I have been upto one of the most shameful things a fellow lazy bug member can be up to....WORK!!!

Sigh...The past one month has been a big fight. Fight against odds, fight against challenges and fight against recession. Getting customers to buy make up is a tough job...Girls out there..Support Daily mirror!!! Go buy make up and show your solidarity against recession!!!

(I guess the effects of WORK is telling) Apart from a receeding hair line, and greying beard I seem to have picked up some fancy negotiation skills (For the uninitated, thats the skill of telling your parents you'd go to a party and return by 1am, where they actually never let you go in the first place!!!)

So as the days went by, and am sure many of my blogger friends would vouch for, March 09 has been tough for any industry. Banking, Insurance, FMCG, Auto, Manufacturing. You name it.

Well to those who know what I mean, Hang on. Fight. Don't give up. (Or in the case you get a better job, just let me know if there are any vacancies!!!)

To those who don't know what I am talking about, Forget it. Not worth bothering about.

Anyway, I have half forgotten "The Story" but promise will get it back soon. Am finding it very difficult to get time, but lets see what we can cook up...:)

People thanks for coming in, even when I haven't been bloggin much. Another useful news, the most searched post on my blog...L'Oreal CASTING CREME GLOSS

Till next enjai madi!!!

Blogosphere is down?

Well 2009 is over by a month, and by the look of it february seems rolling on pretty fast too.  What I seem to have observed is that the regular bloggers that I used to read seemed to have suddenly slowed down on their blogging (that includes me) and the bloggers who used to blog rarely have seemed to pick up their pace and started bloggin alost on a daily basis.

This is surprsing to know, because there were a number of issues which happended in January, like "the Obama", the constant tensions and harrasments in Mangalore, Recession, Pink slips, "Raju raj Satyam" and so on. Somehow everyones seems to be busy, I know I have been busy. hmmm Blogosphere is feeling the brunt of Recessionary trends I must say!!!

WEll I thought maybe I should pick on my "one post for two days" average and carry on blogging for the coming days. For all my ambitious plans of reviewing movies has gone to the bins, Especially since I have hardly seen any movie, let alone the new ones!

Slumdog Should have been a dedicated post but that again as taken a back seat to the work pressures everyone in Blogosphere is facing.

Anyway, heres to more frequent blogging!!!

Cheers :)

Like I said!!! am Right

Hello people.

I am write this post with an air of arrogance (bear v/s Salmon).

Why?

Well, to start off I was very confident of Susans predictions at Astrology Zone, which I have been following ever since 2006, when her astrology pin pointed some historical moments of my life. And I was awe struck.

I have been rambling about how 2009 is going to be my year, and being an aquarian thats a huge statement to make. But that was all based on Susan's predictions. And believe me or not, as predicted that health would be a concern in the first few days of the month, only to turn miracles quickly, heres the proof.

On Friday, I took ill to fever. And was absolutelty in no condition to wake up, let alone the national conference that I had to attend on monday in Mumbai.

Not only did I attend the conference, I came back WINNING AN IPHONE!!! for some sales event that had been organized previously in the year!!! so there!!!

I had a taken a break for sometime. Felt I was using too much of the phone and the net. So now am back, taking it easy.

Meanwhile, I'd suggest all of you check out www.astrologyzone.com

Its a brilliant site, if you like a bit of sneek peak reviews of your future!!!

Happy gazing!

Random Thoughts

Hey yall

Past few days have been well...strange if I can say so. Not sure whats up. Lot of work on on end, Lots of fun on the other, and lots of confusion in between. Am not sure what to look forward to 2009. Though I am sure its gonna be a big year for me. DOnt ask me why, I just have that strange gut feel animals have..

Did I just say animal??!!

Anyways. Everyones blogging about 2008 is over and 2009 is here. Resolutions and revelations and summations and stuff. Well I keep resolutions and break them. Just to ensure myself that this would be the last year of whatever morally worng thing that I am doing/not doing which I would definitely do/not do in the coming year.

Sigh....

As usual this new years eve I have lot of time to sit back and think, and hopefully act on the same. I somehow feel that tommorrow, a huge chapter of my life is coming to an end, and a big new one is going to start. 23 years of uncertainty to be replaced with...ah...hmmmm...more uncertainty!!! well not exactly, but some more of good times and less of the other.

As I look back, of whatever I can remember, its been a roller coaster ride. Ups and downs and downs and ups and horizontals and verticals and all that. Education for a job is over, and a job for survival has just started. an age of gang wars and hangouts replaced by corporate bitching and boardroom meetings..begging for marks to begging for salary hikes...man!!!

Double sigh sigh.

As much as I hate it, I would want to ponder on some of my life changing moments!!! and some gyaaaaaan

Moment 1 : Moving from Bahrain to India (It was like I moved to the North Pole from Sahara)
The change was very difficult, but guess am stronger bcos of it. My life has been full of changes recently.

LEsson 1: Change is inevitable. Change is good

Moment 2 : Getting into a hostel

Boy oh boy, for all those of you who havent been through hostel life, youve missed a lot!!! People skills in between 200 odd characters is a challenge

Lesson 2 : People are everything in life. You dont respect them, you wont get any either.

Moment 3 : Taking up business management

Life is not all about fun. LEarn to suffer a little. Do a BBM/BBA/MBA!!! After that nothing will be tough in life. (not that I regret it...)

Lesson 3 : Shit happens!!! But you just got ta clean up and move on. Cant starve life long can ya now?!!

Moment 4: Getting a job, without Campus placement.

You crazy?!!! Dont ever try a stunt like that!!!

Lesson 4: Things can get shaddy, dirty and damn outright tortorous, But If you know what you want, and work towards it, your bound to get it.

and other lessons, moments of which I cannot share!!!

Lesson 5 : You cant help it if someone hates you for something you havent done.

Lesson 6 : Stop expecting things to happen. They wont. You have to make it happen. The sooner you realize it, the less you will find yourself hurt.

Lesson 7 : Going vegetarian has benefits. A higher level of awareness, more active.

Lesson 8 : There is a GoD. Am not sure about religion though.

Lesson 9 : Love is something that happens. Just happens. True love isnt selfish.

Lesson 10 : Everything happens for the best. Sooner or later. It does.

Now that I have spent some Gyaan, I sign off.

:)

Site under development

Hi ya all!!!

I had mentioned some time back that I wanted to really make the blog look cool, but my lack of software and IT knowledge wasnt helping me. And neither were roomies around to help me, so I was frustated. And I was scared to try it on Daily Mirror.

But after finally afters hours of toiling (And swearing, screaming, throwing those blasted java books to the wall) I have finally managed to stumble upon one of the worlds best blogsites, which has showed me how to do it myself... Yes and have learnt most of this and have been doing my scratch work on Daily Mirror TEsting

HAve a look at the effects and colours. It is by no way a preview of the future of Daily mirror, but am sharing it just for kicks!!!

Have a nice laugh

Time for some stories!!!

Well ,apart from the many success-full bloggers out there, who have made their live stories into good books, there are a cosiderable many who haven't. Telling your life story to the big byad world takes a lot of courage and guts, at the same time an eye for detail, knowing your readers and the like.

I had pondered about the same in a post couple of months ago, and now I have finally made up my mind. Am gonna right some stuff from my life, see if its working out, and the nperhaps continue to write the entire "maddy-potter" Series. Sone thoughts to finalize my plans are yet to be considered. For example, whether to continue in the same blog or start a new one?Already having two other blogs, I dont think a fourth one would be worth it, as one of the blogs has been idle for quite some time. On the other hand I dont want to disturb the flow of the story with other interesting thinks I want to talk about.

Another prob seems to be people. How do I create the characters as they were rather than give a wrong impression, whihc could ruin the entire plan??

Hmmm, Lots to do befre venturing on this huge huge idea. Could be a mistake, could be a great idea, buts what the hell. It aint worth keeping it in the head,no?

Well. I guess I would have cleared my head by Monday so lets c!!!

Till then, have a rocking weekend!

Inspiring day!!!

Well the highlight of my day was that I re commenced reading a book I had picked up a couple of months back. The book is written by Jack Welch and is named "Winning". It truly stands up to its name, as the book is fantabulous!!! I was particularly inspired by a page on Leadership.

I have written in brief on the same topic in Business Bubbles. Read more about it here.

Apart from that it was looking great today..Tom being a Sat :) :) :)

Nothing interesting other than that. Lets look up to a fantastic weekend!!!

Cheers!!!

Am on WordpresS!!

Well yes, (dont give me thosse anti wordpress and traitor stares!!!) I have started a blog on Wordpress as well. I am only TEMPORARILY checking out word press.

Though most of the features look the same, the initial idea is that Wordpress gives you more if you know how to figure out and use it to the max. Again Widgets is much easier on Wordpress, though I have no idea on how to burn a feed.

Guess feedburner will help me on that.

Any way I will be running all three blogs simultaneously, so let me know!!! This is the link to Maddylicious!!!

Tiil then

Adios!!!

Sep 30, 2008

what a bad hair day!!!

Really had a tough day...was just back from home in the morning..Somehow the auto guy fleeced me 300bucks!!! Not a guy to argue with auto walas, I was on the verge of a fight today first thing in the morning...

then came the bike..the horn went Kaput..Got fed up trying to correct it and in the process got late for work..

Then came the saliva spitting bus..I overtook a bus and somebdy felt it was the right moment to spit out..while I was checking what the F, the bus vanished and so were my chances of whacking someone. To top it all one of my favorite boss in office had his last day at office today..so there!!!

Some snaps from home at 6.30 in the morning!!!

Phew..anyway its a brand new month. Have been very active on linked in..catching up on everyone..asking questions and stuff.

My journey so far

Part 1 : Beautiful Bahrain

Was born in Bahrain. Schooling in Asian School and Indian School (5th and 6th), WAs a member of Kannada Sangha. Was more in the category called unkown!!! Lots of Friends from Kannada Sangha. Most are in Bahrain, or in Mangalore(India), Bangalore(India)

Part 2 : Incredible India

Moved down in 1996 to further my education. Was in Little Rock Indain School. (7th to 1oth) The the next large chapter was in Poorna Prajna College, again in Udupi District. Did my PU, Bachelors in business management. I wanted to be an architect but somewhere in between I got frightened of Science. I had a good academic record, but still opted for a comerce degree(Science was the craze back then)

Wrote my CAT exam. Scored a good 83 percentile (93 % in english, 36% in Quants!!!) and ended up in a new MBA college at Udupi..ICFAI National College. I didnt know why I was there after all my mega dreams of being a Brand manager, but somehow managed to bag 5 national awards, and the best intern nationally from the university!!!

Now after a short stint in advertising and in a Marketing company (as a Sales incharge, of all things!!!) Now I work for Loreal( ya it sells cosmetics. No its not an insurance company). Still in search of ma goal in life and a companion too....

fee fi fo fum, hey life here I come!!!

Audition sudition Blah!!!

Finally its over...the audition I mean. It was kinda cool..But undoubtedly I was not at my best. Very Very Rusted as per the good old days when we were colleges.

It started of with a video shoot introducing ourselves. Some questions were asked.

Then was the GD. Again as usual a contrversial topic. To Get out our opinions.

Then came the most important question. Who out of the other 7 would you want to take with you on to the show. Followed by who you wouldnt want to take with you..

Some of the qustions I was asked.. And the answers I gave. And the answers I should have given in other circumstances

1. If you got 50,000 to slap a guy, how many slaps would you give the guy?

My Ans: I wouldnt slap at all, I wouldnt harm anyone physically

Should have: I would probably slap him as much s humanely possible, then share the bounty with him, and taken few slaps myself maybe.

2. If you got a bag full of money with an id proof, what would you do?

My Ans: I would take half the money, send the remaining back to th concerned person.

Should have: Take the money, scoot as far as possible.

3. If you need to give a sexual favor to your boss to get promoted would  you do it?

My Ans: No. It wouldnt last very long. (promotion I mean)

Should have: If my boss was attractive, maybe...;)

4. If your a helpful guy, you should have been doing social service..

My Ans: Once I win the money I will give money and time to any social cause

Should have: Who told you I am not doing social service right now?!!

5. You dont look Physically fit to do any adventure activity like para gliding or tight rope walking

My Ans: Its all in the mind, if your mentally strong, you can do anything.

Should have: You dont look physically fit to wrestle or get into a boxing ring yourself!!!

But Though I would have given the should have answer's in any stress interview in my good ol days, somehow I was very honest in what I have said. I may sound politically correct, thats what I would honestly do. I have given Gold chains back when I found them. I have never hit anyone to save myself!!!

I was trying to emphasise that I am very different from Others, and that I could only prove it in action not in words, however that dint come across I think.

However soneone did say that they would take me along to the show, given a chance, Because that though I appeared silent I was the most different guy among everyone there!!! Phew!! At least someone noticed.

But somehow I am disturbed..I dont think I am the same spontaneous, smart ass kid I was..Very worrying, Any way lets see what the results say. Not that I am expecting anything surprising.

Maybe in the future then...

Cheers
